gain trying to get the same effect as in Abstract. After Abstract 2 I decided to use a lot of fast drying medium. It is still drying, no idea how it looks now. Will be a surprise when I’m back home again. Underneath the paint is also tape, I have not decided if I will pull it off or not. And if I will, when the paint is dry or not. Decisions, decisions.

F
ound a lot of tape and 3 square paintings, one painted black, one purple and one orange. Screw the three together and started taping. After that, I colored the un-taped areas with all kind of purples, reds and blacks. After painting, immediately I removed the tape and let it rest for two days. Was not happy about the borders and rounded them, was not happy with the base colors (underneath the once taped areas) and painted them again a little bit brighter. Now it looks like a sixties or seventies wall. Nothing wrong with that. Had to use Photoshop to make the picture better, the flash gave it too many highlights I had to tone down.

was impressed when I saw the works of Barnett Newman in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. Really impressive is Who’s Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue III, 1967-68. You have to see the painting to experience it. What is possible with only a few colours, for sure it helps when the painting is this big. So I used some tape on a unused canvas, painted it and removed the tape. Gives a nice clean effect.
